Square Golf Software V2 Unveiled at PGA Show 2026

A Smarter, Cleaner, More Realistic Simulator Experience

At the PGA Show, Square Golf officially previewed Version 2 of its software, and it’s more than a visual refresh. While Version 1.4.2 laid a strong foundation with versatile practice modes and accessible gameplay, Version 2 refines how golfers interact with data, practice with purpose, and review performance over time.

Rather than reinventing the platform, Square has focused on clarity, realism, and usability, making the experience feel more premium, intuitive, and aligned with how golfers actually train.

A New Look, Built for Focus

The first thing you’ll notice in Version 2 is the complete visual restyle. The interface shifts from Square’s familiar green theme to a modern grey palette, immediately giving the software a cleaner, more professional feel. Widgets have been repositioned for better flow, reducing visual clutter and keeping attention where it belongs, on the shot, the data, and the feedback.

This isn’t just cosmetic. The new layout makes information easier to scan mid-session, especially when reviewing multiple metrics or switching between modes.

Driving Range:

In Version 1.4.2, the Driving Range was designed for straightforward practice—hit shots, see ball and club data, and log sessions. Version 2 transforms this into a true performance analysis environment.

What’s Changed and Why It Matters

  • Bay Port removed, Lodge added
With performance optimisation improved, Bay Port is no longer needed. Highland remains as the core range, now joined by Lodge, a brand-new environment with day and night modes, adding variety without sacrificing realism.
  • Massive data expansion
Version 2 supports up to 21 data points, with 17 visible at once, compared to just 14 in Version 1.4.2. This is especially important for golfers using the new Omni launch monitor, as it unlocks deeper insights without overwhelming the screen.
  • Customisable data views
Golfers can now rearrange which metrics they see using the “View All” option, so the experience adapts to the player, not the other way around.
  • Improved impact visualisation
The Impact screen now displays actual strike location data captured by Omni, making feedback more tangible and actionable.
  • Cleaner session history access
Practice sessions are still recorded, but Version 2 presents them through a more user-friendly menu, making long-term improvement easier to track.

Bottom line: Version 2 turns the Driving Range from a hitting area into a structured training tool.

Closest to the Pin:

Closest to the Pin remains familiar, but subtle improvements elevate the experience.

  • Golfers still choose fixed, increasing, or random distances between 10 to 200 yards
  • Optional putting remains, with adjustable green speed and slope
  • Editable data points now allow players to focus on the stats that matter most to scoring

By combining flexible distances with enhanced data control, this mode now feels less like a mini-game and more like a pressure-based practice session.

Putting Practice:

Putting Practice in Version 1.4.2 offered solid fundamentals. Version 2 adds the realism golfers have been asking for.

  • Each session now generates a more natural, varied green
  • The green slope can be set to Flat, Typical, or Tough
  • Distances remain flexible from 5 to 50 feet, fixed, increasing, or random

The result is a putting environment that challenges speed control and line reading—not just repetition.

Game Mode:

Game Mode continues to operate on Square’s pay-per-play credit system (1 credit per hole per player, with 1,000 free credits included with a launch monitor).

What hasn’t changed:

  • Up to 4 players
  • 22 golf courses, with more coming
  • Player difficulty levels: Rookie, Amateur, Professional
  • Individual tee box selection (Kids, Ladies, Front, Back)
  • Adjustable course conditions (wind, green speed, concede distance, auto putt)
  • Ability to save a round mid-game and return later

What has changed:

  • Significantly improved visuals during play, making on-course sessions feel more immersive and less “simulator-like”

It’s the same robust gameplay structure, just delivered with more polish and presence.

Settings:

Settings retain all the flexibility golfers expect:

  • Language selection
  • Carry distance adjustment (±10%)
  • Spin measurement (calculated vs measured)
  • Yards or metres
  • Graphics controls (quality, aspect ratio, exposure, saturation, sharpness)

The difference is organisation. Version 2 groups options more logically, reducing time spent digging through menus and keeping setup quick and frustration-free.
